TEATTERI METAMORFOOSI

Teatteri Metamorfoosi is a professional mask theatre company based in Helsinki. It was founded in 2005 by Finnish theatre pedagogue and theatre maker Soile Mäkelä, Swiss director Davide Giovanzana and Finnish sculptor Laura Mäkelä.

The company has grown as a dynamic and polymorphic ensemble including actors, dancers, puppeteers, musicians, sculptors, mask makers, a costume designer and a graphic designer, all of whom share a deep curiosity about masks.

Teatteri Metamorfoosi is one of the rare European theatre companies focusing on the exploration of mask theatre. Our work is visible in performances, mask making activities, pedagogy, and an international mask theatre festival MASQUE organized in Helsinki. The next festival will take place 20.-23.10.2011.

Teatteri Metamorfoosi is a member of Produforum, a network of independant theatres, artists and art managers.
