MetaWORKSHOP:
HIDING FOR REVEALING
-Development of scenes through character masks
28.–30.8.2020
Enrollments by 14th of August!
KEY WORDS
Character mask, movement theatre, physical action, feelings and emotions, improvisation, storytelling without words.
AIMED FOR
Professionals, students and amateurs interested in masks and physical theatre. No need for previous mask theatre experience.
DESCRIPTION
The focus of the workshop is on the development of scenes and the creation of characters through “character masks”: human caricatures that amplify the intentions and emotions of the character. We will discover how the expression of the rigid full mask is changing and transforming according to the movement, breath and emotional state of the actor.
We will develop scenes from certain concrete starting points, such as location, music or character. The aim is to become more conscious of mechanisms and parameters through which we can tell stories without words.
The workshop is also highly recommended for actors with more traditional theatre background: Working with masks can help the actor to become more aware of the surplus habits they often take on stage and help them to use their bodies in a more economical and effective way.
TEACHER

After graduating from Accademia Teatro Dimitri (Switzerland) in 2009 he has worked in over 20 countries around the world with remarkable physical theatre companies such as German Familie Flöz, Swiss Utopik Family and his own theatre company Teatro Insonne based in Tuscany, Italy.
