TO WHOM
The course is aimed at everyone in the field of clowning from professionals to amateurs. You will need basic knowledge of clowning.
DESCRIPTION
In this course we explore vocal expression and musical possibilities in the world of clown. We will work in groups on improvisations based on different exercises, creating songs from sounds, rhythms, emotions, actions and themes arising from your clown.
All you need for the course is a red nose, a sense of curiosity and, if you wish, your own instrument, if you play one. Improvisations may develop into a small number or part of a number, although making a performance is not the focus of the course.
LANGUAGE
Finnish
English if needed
TEACHER
Hartikainen joined an improv group in '96 and a spark was lit. Around the same time she had started to play guitar. As director Leena Tiuri asked her to produce songs at improv gigs, she accidentally became an improvising musician.
Clowning came into Hartikainen's life in the character of Soile Mäkelä, and it felt like a natural extension of improvisational theatre. Her clown characters Ilmi and Nolja Kekkonen have been seen e.g. contemporary art museums, the National Library, nursing homes and service centres in Helsinki, at festivals in Finland, Italy and Germany, and in the ranks of Teatteri Metamorfoosi Clown Chorus.
Iika is a passionate music maker and sings in the Mutka band that will release its second album in the upcoming year. Iika has also worked as an instructor at various youth band camps.
